James Scheffler, known by clients and colleagues as Jim, began his medical career shortly after graduating high school. He received his ARRT registry as a Radiology Tech from Wyandotte General Hospital in Michigan, and then went on to perform nuclear medicine, CT scanning, OB, abdominal, vascular, and cardiac ultrasound. Jim also holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Sienna Heights College in Science and Business Administration along with his ARDMS registry in Ultrasound.
After teaching a variety of courses including Radiology and Ultrasound Physics Principles at the collegiate level, Jim accepted a position in Massachusetts with a National Ultrasound School in 1990. He was the Director of Education and Chief Instructor there for over 12 years. Jim graduated more than 500 students including physicians and nurses who held positions in prestigious facilities like Boston Medical Center and Mayo Clinic. During this time, Jim became involved in assisting with the educational needs of PHCs, showing them how to effectively express to young mothers the miracle of life through ultrasound imaging.
During his teaching tenure, Jim became involved in medical sales and eventually formed Innovative Imaging Technology. The goal has always been to establish a ministry by educating and financially assisting PHCs in their mission to save God’s precious children.
In 2008, Jim co-founded the non-profit organization, Ultrasounds for Life, known today as Ultrasounds 4 Life. It was formed to assist PHCs both nationally and internationally by providing 50 to 100 percent off the cost of training programs and ultrasound systems.
Jim works exclusively with PHCs by providing for both educational and material needs. The ultrasound equipment provided by Innovative Imaging is through Esaote North America and has been for the last 19 years. Innovative Imaging is constantly reviewing different vendors to provide PHCs with the highest quality equipment at the best possible pricing.
As part of his ministry, Jim volunteers his time to perform live ultrasound scans at fundraising banquets across the country. The powerful message delivered during his presentations has enabled many donors to see the need to fund one of these lifesaving ultrasound machines for their own local center.
Jim has made several missional trips, including ones to Zambia, Costa Rica, Mexico, South Africa and Honduras, to provide locals with ultrasounds machines donated by Ultrasounds 4 Life, Baptists for Life, the Southern Baptist Convention and Beautiful Feet International. Trainings for physicians and nurses on how to effectively use the equipment are also conducted during these trips.
